Important Repeater Updates

Hello all,

I was contacted by Terry, WB3BKN about some exciting changes to the repeater and he asked me to share them with the group.

Tomorrow (Saturday, Nov 1st) around noon, Terry will be taking a new repeater to the Newport site. The frequency of the repeater will remain the same, however, the CTCSS/PL Tone will change to 85.4 hz – please update your radio programming to continue to be able to access the repeater!

The change to the repeater CTCSS tone is necessary to facilitate linking of the repeater. Which leads me to the next point – the repeater will be full-time linked to the 146.760 repeater located on Blue Mountain in Harrisburg. The linking of the two machines should give the benefit of a large increase in the coverage area of the repeater and also give those who only have 2m capabilities the means to join in on our net and other club activities.

I confirmed with Terry that we may still continue to hold our net on Tuesday evenings at 8pm and he assured me it should not interfere with any activities on the repeater. I did extend an invitation to the 76 group to also join our net, which is open to all. Likewise, Terry asked that I share that the 76 group holds a net on Wednesday evenings at 7pm and we are invited to join. The net is NOT held on the second Wednesday of the month as that is their regular club meeting time.

I will be at work tomorrow, but I imagine Terry would appreciate reports from the field once the repeater is installed and operational. If you have the time, keep an ear out for him and anyone else who might be out there!

Thanks and 73s
